This month Pickleball Is Great presents a series of articles looking at the first 55 years Of Pickleball. This is the fourth and final installment in that series.

As we remember our origins and think about recent growth and changes, we should also celebrate who we are as pickleball players. The Pickleball Hall of Fame strives to do just that. Their website (https://pickleballhalloffame.com/) lists their mission statement (purpose):

  • The Pickleball Hall of Fame will recognize individuals who have achieved exceptional results in pickleball play over the course of their career, as well as those who have made exceptional contributions to the growth, development, and leadership of the game. All candidates should have also demonstrated a high level of character, integrity, sportsmanship, and consideration for others and thus earned the respect and admiration of their peers.
  • Most of us will never be Hall of Fame nominees or members, but we can each contribute to the growth, development, and leadership of the game.
  • Invite a friend to play and teach them the basics of the game.
  • Support your local club by watching for ways to volunteer.
  • Help with your club’s tournament or event.
  • Donate your gently used paddles to an after-school or parks & rec program.
  • Be an encourager on and off the court to new players.
